Impacts of Financialisation on Society, Environment and Economy
POUR LA SOLIDARITÉ - PLS will participate to the fourth annual conference of the European project FESSUD (Financialisation, Economy, Society and Sustainable Development), on 15-17 October 2015, in Lisbon, Portugal.
FESSUD aims to explore the nature of the relationship between financialisation (the processes linked to the growth of financial systems and finance in general) and the sustainability of the financial system, the economic and social developments as well as the environment.
In order to illustrate the mechanisms involved in the financialisation of markets and the impact of the latter on society, environment and economy, FESSUD researchers will take the opportunity of this event to present the results of the different studies conducted in the last 4 years on:
- Financialisation, financial and economic crises: what have we learnt?
- Finance and everyday life: (re)producing differentiation
- Financialisation and industry
- The policy mix in EU new Member States and Turkey
- Money, finance and sustainable development
- Financialisation and development issues
New features compared to the previous editions: partners will now be able to compile a first summary of the conclusions drawn in the different FESSUD Work packages, as well as a foresight analysis of financialisation in a near future (i.e. 2025).
Besides, the conference will be enriched by the presence two honourable guests who will be giving keynote speeches: László Andor (formerly EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion) and Gerald A. Epstein (University of Massachusetts, Amherst).
Finally, we will welcome contributions from external researchers who will be invited to present their research on FESSUD themes in the frame of a call for papers launched last spring.
Registration are open until Monday 28th September 2015 at 9 a.m.
